Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffFebruary 17, 2010This freeware offers many unusual advantages over standard text editors like Notepad, but its interface is not one of them. Quicknote's atypical, unfamiliar interface and miniscule controls can be a pain to operate. By default, the background color scheme is a sea green, but you can change this, as well as the color, style, and size of the font. Quicknote also includes a simple drawing tool, and though you can tweak the size of the brush, you can't choose from additional pens or pencils. We did like the ability to create an unlimited number of notes from the main window, and we really appreciated the alarm functionality. This latter feature can't actually play a sound for some reason, but it will launch any application or pop up a reminder message. The measurement converter seems like an odd addition, but it's nonetheless appreciated. If you can overlook its frustrating design, Quicknote may be worth considering.
