Taking notes is important no matter what type of work you're doing, and this highly customizable program lets you do it just the way you want to.The interface for Notepad! is somewhat cluttered, but still attractive, with no Help file available. It's not too hard to figure out where all of the features you want are, though, and the note-taking area is clear enough. If all you want is a basic notepad, you'll find it here, but if you want to use this program for coding, you'll find a lot of useful tools in the various program menus located across the top of the program window. For instance, from the editing toolbar, you can choose Syntax, Indent and Unindent block, and divide the note screen into columns. There are also advanced settings that allow you to export a file as RTF or HTML, and you can create a document map from the app, as well. Another handy feature is the split editor, which divides the screen into two identical documents that you can edit, simultaneously. When you need a new surface to write on, you can either open a new document window or open a new tab in the same window.This app is free and delivers on all of its promised features. It is accessible for users of all levels, although if you just want a basic note-taking program, you probably won't take advantage of all of the app's features. That's no reason not to try it out, though, since you may find you grow into it over time.
