Gantt Chart Builder (Excel)

Gantt Chart Builder (Excel) is a more affordable alternative, but unfortunately we didn't find it very effective. On the plus side, this Excel plug-in uses the power of Microsoft's spreadsheet software to provide such features as conditional formatting. It can analyze dependencies among tasks and recalculate charts accordingly. Our major concern is that Gantt Chart Builder requires users to enter and change charts by typing data into Excel cells. You can't, for instance, reschedule a task by dragging its line on the chart or connect tasks by clicking them. Gantt Chart Builder also has very restricted export capabilities. You can either save your chart as an Excel sheet or copy cells into the Clipboard as an image. If you don't have Excel or prefer a more visual-oriented work flow, with a little searching you'll be able to find comparable freeware products.
