Editors' ReviewDownload.com staffDecember 22, 2009We have to preface this by saying that we are engaged to a big graphic design nerd, and we know without asking what he would think of Visual Business Cards. There's a lot of bad design out there, and unfortunately, Visual Business Cards seems to be in the business of propagating it. Although the program is quite easy to use, we're afraid that more often than not it will result in tacky, amateurish business cards. The program loses any design credibility it may have had by setting Comic Sans as the default font. We do give Visual Business Cards credit for being easy to use; creating a business card is really as easy as entering your contact information and then selecting from a variety of backgrounds, borders, images, and more. We like that the program comes with plenty of templates for users who don't want or need much in the way of customization, but that at the end of the process it still allows users to manipulate individual design elements if desired. Although we're not sure that clip art is a great aesthetic choice, many of the program's themes include it, which may or may not be a good thing. The program's Help file is well written and thorough. Overall we found the program to be quite intuitive and simple, although we did have problems on more than one occasion with the program crashing when we tried to change fonts.Visual Business Cards has a 30-day trial period. The program installs and uninstalls without issues. We recommend this program to all users; it may not produce great design, but it does work.
